????Chinese sailor Guo Chuan has been non-stop sailing for 114 days around the world and he has arrived at the Sunda Strait in Indonesia on March 13 local time, indicating that he is going to finish his non-stop sailing around the world in Class 40 boat very soon.
????On the afternoon of March 12, Indonesian local time, the journalists met Guo Chuan on the south of Krakatoa in the center of the Sunda Strait. After nearly four months of non-stop sailing, Guo Chuan’s skin becomes swarthy; his hair has become longer. Guo waved excitedly while lifting the Five-Starred Red Flag when our wooden fishing boat came close to his boat.
????"In the past more than three months, a large part of the sailing was on the Southern Ocean, where they were only storms, waves, sea, sky but no human being at all. Today I come back to the human world and civilization all of a sudden,” Guo told us over a satellite phone.
????Setting off from Qingdao on Nov.18th of last year, the 47-year-old Guo Chuan, image ambassador for Qingdao sailing events, aimed to travel 21,600 nautical miles in about 135 days in a Class 40 boat "Qingdao". Right now, Guo has successfully completed nearly 90% of the entire sailing.
????Guo is quite confident that he will finish his world sailing. "Now I am almost close to my destination, I am hopeful that I can finish the sailing successfully," Guo said over the satellite phone. (Zheng Shibo)
